Missions: First Fruit

Dear Family,

Firstly, thank you. Without your prayers, encouragement and financial support I would not be able to follow God’s call on my life, which is to know Him and love Him and from that place of intimacy, serve Him!

I wanted to share with you this wonderful opportunity the Lord has given me in my second year of Ministry School. While I have been here, God has been teaching me about His Servant Heart. The One who created as He spoke, breathed life into the man formed by His Hands, and hung the stars in place is The Greatest Servant known to mankind. He is the God who washes the feet of His disciples, the God who heals the lepers, the God who raises the dead, and He is the God who multiplies bread and fish. All of these things He did with His hands. These are the same Holy Hands that had nails pierced through them to hold Him on the Cross where He paid for our sin. Holy Scriptures tell us in Matthew 20:28, “the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.” It’s only right that I give Him my hands in service.

It is with great joy that I share that I have been selected to join Jesus School on Missions in March in Phoenix, Arizona. Here we will proclaim the Gospel, pray for the sick, and serve the Evangelical Sisterhood of Mary https://canaaninthedesert.com. Jesus will be glorified. This will be the very first missions trip the Lord has invited me on; the First Fruit of many. I am so expectant for all that Jesus will do as I co-labour with Him, empowered by the Holy Spirit, in a way I never have before! This is a very holy privilege the Lord has given me and I would like to invite you to partner with Him: His kingdom come, His will be done, on earth, in Arizona, as it is in Heaven.

Thank you to the dear Body of Christ, without you, none of this would be possible.

“Be dressed ready for service and keep your lamps burning, like servants waiting for their master to return from a wedding banquet, so that when he comes and knocks they can immediately open the door for him. It will be good for those servants whose master finds them watching when he comes. Truly I tell you, he will dress himself to serve, will have them recline at the table and will come and wait on them. It will be good for those servants whose master finds them ready, even if he comes in the middle of the night or toward daybreak. But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what hour the thief was coming, he would not have let his house be broken into. You also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.” Peter asked, “Lord, are You telling this parable to us, or to everyone?” The Lord answered, “Who then is the faithful and wise manager, whom the master puts in charge of his servants to give them their food allowance at the proper time? It will be good for that servant whom the master finds doing so when he returns. Truly I tell you, he will put him in charge of all his possessions.”

Luke 12:35-44 NIV

Post-trip Update:

My week in Arizona was a week of serving those who are ministering to the Lord and those who are ministering to the people of Phoenix. On this trip, the team and I had the privilege of serving at two Food Banks, sharing the gospel at a Shopping Mall, and serving at a Community Garden. We also have the great honour of being with the Sisters and learning so much from them. Even on stops to the grocery stores and spending time at the hotel, Jesus was preached! On the trip, some gave their lives to Christ, some were strengthened and encouraged in their faith, many were met with the love of Jesus in simple acts of service. Jesus was glorified. The team and I grew in unity and by the end of this trip, it was difficult to leave the Sisters and bittersweet to know that this sweet time with the team had come to an end. While I cannot fully put into words all that happened in my heart and my life, I can share the most important thing I learned from the Sisters. You do not have to be committed to doing spiritual things every moment of every day to be fully devoted to Jesus. The Sisters cooked, ate, worked on projects and tended to the day to day responsibilities on Canaan in the Desert. However, in all things that they do, they commit their tasks to the Lord, including Him in it and doing it unto Him. It is so simple. They showed me how simple it really is. In Colossians 3:23 Paul writes, “and whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men.” I left Arizona, provoked to learn from the Holy Spirit, Holy Scripture and those who have gone before me, how to love Jesus in the day to day. May He teach us all, how to love Him back.

Thank you for your prayers, your financial support & encouragement. I couldn’t have done this without you!

Love,

Your sister in Christ Jesus,

Jen
